Wisdom teeth are the very back molars, erupting usually between the ages of 17 – 21 years. Occasionally they can cause pain or irritation, due to an infection beneath the gum. Extractions are usually recommended if the wisdom teeth are impacted (fail to erupt fully) which may cause decay or regular infections. Your dentist will identify if extractions are required.
